Jockey Hadden Frost thinks the Cheltenham hill could help Somersby turn the tables on Master Minded in the Sportingbet.com Queen Mother Champion Chase at the festival next month.
Frost and Somersby were a short head behind two-time Champion Chase winner Master Minded in the Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot last time, but the rider, who secured his first festival success on Buena Vista in the Pertemps Final last season, is eager for another crack.
"Last time, behind Master Minded, it was good that he ran so well, but I was also gutted that we got beaten after coming so close," Frost said.
"He doesn't have an instant kick, he starts stretching and when he does hit top speed, he's very quick. AP [McCoy] kicked on aboard Master Minded and we met a few slowly, then pounded him down on the run-in and nearly got there.
Frost, whose other Cheltenham rides could include Calgary Bay and Racing Demon for Somersby's trainer Henrietta Knight, added: "The hill at Cheltenham could help him and he's improving every time he runs. He was rated 156 at the start of the season andhe's 170 now so if he keeps improving he'll be there."
Somersby is best-priced 8-1 with Paddy Power for the Champion Chase, while Master Minded is the sponsor's 5-2 favourite.
