Nicholls thrilled with Kauto Star workout

Leading trainer Paul Nicholls has reported that dual Gold Cup hero Kauto Star went well in a gallop with returning jockey Ruby Walsh earlier this week.

The superstar continues to shorten in the Cheltenham Festival ante post betting as he prepares to return to Prestbury Park in search of his third success in the prestigious race.

Ruby Walsh returns from injury at Newbury on Friday and punters will be thrilled to hear that he has been back on Kauto Star, just over two weeks before the two join forces in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Paul Nicholls was happy to confirm: "He (Walsh) partnered Kauto Star in a racecourse gallop with Master Minded (Daryl Jacob), Sam Winner (Harry Skelton) and Robinson Collonges (Ian Popham) on Tuesday morning.

"Clive Smith was on hand to watch the workout and Kauto Star went with Master Minded, and I was particularly pleased with Kauto, though they all went nicely and I was delighted with all four. They did a nice piece of work over 2m, with Robinson going with Sam.  Sam Winner needed the breeze out and enjoyed himself, and in many ways Robinson is very much a forgotten horse.”
